Known for his clear-headed leadership and positive approach, Rabbi Ezra Baldinger makes sure that everything in camp runs smoothly. He received Semicha from the Yeshiva Gedolah of Silver Spring (Rabbi Aaron Lopiansky and Rabbi Eliyahu Reingold) and holds a master’s degree in education from the George Washington University.
He coaches the basketball team at Yeshiva of Greater Washington while working full time as a co-director of Reyus, including planning and oversight of Camp Chaverim. He lives in Silver Spring, MD, with his wife and children.

Rabbi Yaakov Boruch Beren directs Chaverim alongside Rabbi Baldinger with his trademarked level of enthusiasm and emphasis on Middos Tovos. He received Semicha from the Yeshiva Gedolah of Silver Spring (Rabbi Aaron Lopiansky and Rabbi Eliyahu Reingold), holds a master’s degree in education from George Washington University, and holds a joint degree in law and business from George Washington University. He is the full time co-director of Reyus, including overseeing Camp Chaverim operations and lives in Baltimore with his wife and children.

Rabbi Mark is dynamic, warm, enthusiastic and creative with significant camp experience. Currently, he is learning in Kollel in Yeshivas Mir, and lives in Ramat Eshkol with his wife Denise and their five children. Rabbi Mark is originally from Denver, Colorado and lived in Passaic before moving to Israel. Prior to becoming the Head Counselor of Camp Chaverim, he worked at an Israeli/American camp in Israel called Camp Adirim, where he was one of the camp’s division heads. Rabbi Mark is passionate about bringing the best out of children and he is able to do so with tremendous sensitivity, warmth, excitement, and creativity!

Rabbi Baruch Zachter brings over 10 years of experience in camp leadership and successful programming. The ruach that he brings to camp together with the devotion to his campers is unparalleled. As a beloved middle school Rebbe in Torah Day School of Phoenix, Rabbi Zachter has a unique ability to connect with boys of all ages. Rabbi Zachter is excited to give the boys an experience they will always remember!

Rabbi Scher is cherished by the campers and the staff for his warmth, intellect, and dedication to Halacha. He recieved Semicha from the Yeshiva of Greater Washington (Rabbi Ahron Lopiansky Shlit”a and Rabbi Gedaliah Anemer ZT”L). He was selected to join the Hanhalah of the Yeshiva Gedolah Beis Medrash of Greater Washington in 2005 and has continued to teach there ever since. He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and children.

Shloima is from Silver Spring, Maryland and has been with Camp Chaverim for 9 years.  Shloima is Camp Chaverim is extremely versatile and has worn many hats over the years.  He has been on our support staff, a lifeguard, sports leagues commissioner, head of the Chaverim boys choir, a learning rebbe, and a counselor.  

Shloima’s wide range of skills are matched by his sincerity and kindness.  His ability to connect with campers of all ages is truly special.  His warmth and sensitivity are an essential part of the growth of the campers in Camp Chaverim.  Currently, Shloima is a rebbe at Toras Simcha in Baltimore.

Avraham Moshe Kushner is currently learning in Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim of Queens. He has been involved with Camp Chaverim since 2018, starting as a Masmidim camper, then serving as a Junior Counselor (JC) for one year, followed by three years as a counselor. This coming summer will be his second year as a part of the Chaverim Head Staff. Avraham Moshe assists with the daily operations, supporting the directors, and contributing to the camp ruach. Avraham Moshe’s positive energy, careful sensitivity, and warm smile are an integral part of the Camp Chaverim environment.

Dr. GAVRIEL FAGIN PH.D.

As an organization that prioritizes child safety in all regards, Camp Chaverim works with Dr. Gavriel Fagin, Ph.D. and his firm, Tikkunim. Dr. Fagin consults for a large number of Jewish camps how to foster a staff to camper relationship that is healthy and has proper boundaries.
